Enrichment works best when it connects with what children are already wondering about. Rather than treating incursions as entertainment dropped into the week, educators use them as launch points for conversation, investigation, creative work and continued play.

A visitor might leave after an hour, but the learning does not have to. Educators listen to what captures children’s attention and extend it afterwards through books, dramatic play, art, construction, experiments, outdoor investigation or new questions.

Childhood should have moments that make eyes widen. Enrichment gives us another way to protect that sense of wonder while building knowledge, confidence and connection. What is offered can evolve across the year in response to children, the program and our local communities.
