Capability is the foundation.
Early literacy and numeracy matter, and they are woven naturally through stories, conversation, games, projects, measurement, pattern, drawing and everyday problem-solving. But a successful start to school also depends on confidence, communication, resilience, self-care and knowing how to learn alongside other people.
Think & communicate
Children practise expressing ideas, listening, asking questions, recognising symbols and making meaning through language, stories and play.
Try & persist
We create opportunities to plan, test, make mistakes and try again—building the confidence to approach unfamiliar challenges.
Belong & participate
Friendship skills, group participation, independence and self-regulation help children feel capable in a larger school community.

Packing away, remembering belongings, opening a lunchbox, joining a group discussion, negotiating a game, following a multi-step idea and asking an adult for help are all meaningful preparation. We build these capabilities through daily life rather than turning kindergarten into a classroom rehearsal.

By the end of the Caterpillar Kidz journey, our aim is not to produce children who already know everything school will teach them. It is to send forward curious learners who feel secure in themselves, connected to others and excited by what they can discover next.
